Brandon Putzke
Owner & Director of Treasure Coast Percussion
Brandon Putzke is a native of Michigan but calls Vero Beach “home.” He is a graduate of Vero Beach High School and received his Bachelor of Science in Music Education from the University of South Florida. He taught elementary music for 15 years, was the percussion director for VBHS for 19 years and most recently the Associate Director of Bands at VBHS from 2016-2019. Mr. Putzke is currently the owner and director of Treasure Coast Percussion. Services include private and group lessons, Remo HealthRHYTHMS and team building, recreational drum circles and percussion program consulting.
Mr. Putzke’s ensembles have performed at many prestigious events throughout the state of Florida and on a National level including, the Sandy Feldstein National Percussion Festival in Indianapolis, the 2015 Peach Bowl halftime show, parade, and concert band festival in Atlanta, the McCormick Marimba Festival in Tampa, the Capitol Building in Tallahassee, the Kennedy Space Center, Universal Studios and the Florida Day of Percussion. The Vero Beach High School Percussion Ensemble has earned superior ratings at the Florida Bandmasters Association District and State Solo and Ensemble Festivals each year. Mr. Putzke is a percussion composer/arranger and has been published in the national subscription of Music Express Magazine and Music K-8. He is a sought after clinician and adjudicator around the state of Florida.
Mr. Putzke has recorded several CD’s with his elementary and high school groups and with professional talents from all over the state. He performs regularly with local band, Souljam, and several theatrical productions at area theatres and churches.
Mr. Putzke is a current member of the Florida Bandmasters Association and the Percussive Arts Society. He has received his National Board Certification and is endorsed by Vic Firth, Remo and Sabian.
Michael Sammons, D.M.A.
Percussion Area Head for the University of Utah
Michael Sammons, D.M.A. serves as the Percussion Area Head at the University of Utah and is recognized as a versatile performer in solo, chamber, symphonic, marching percussion, and non-western musical styles. In addition to his work with the Utah Symphony Orchestra, he has performed with various national theater touring shows including Aladdin, Harlem Nights amongst others, and regularly He has appeared as a guest artist with Utah Chamber Artists and NOVA New Music Chamber Series. His work can be heard on ABC, ESPN, TNT, and local media outlets as well as diverse recording projects for Warner Chappell Music and the Utah Symphony Orchestra. Sammons previously served as director for the NBA’s Utah Jazz “Street Beats” Drumline. Sammons has appeared extensively throughout the U.S. and in Brazil as a guest artist and clinician including multiple Percussive Arts Society International Convention appearances, Universidad Federal de Rio de Janeiro and de Recife in Brazil, National Association for Music Education, numerous state Music Educators Association Conventions, Music for All Summer Symposium, Northwest Percussion Festival, and various Percussive Arts Society’s “Days of Percussion”. He is a contributing author in the 3rd edition of Teaching Percussion by Gary Cook. Sammons continues to direct the Treasure Coast Percussion Camp (middle and high school percussionists), founded in 2005. Sammons currently serves as chair of the University Pedagogy Committee for the Percussive Arts Society. His travels abroad include Trinidad, Ghana, and Brazil.
Doug Moser
Percussion Specialist for Indian River County Schools
Doug Moser is an active educator, performer, composer, and arranger residing in Vero Beach, FL. He earned the Bachelor of Arts in Music from Rollins College in Winter Park, FL, and the Masters Degree in Music from the University of South Florida in Tampa. He is the former director of the USF Herd of Thunder Drumline (2006-2014), and created the WGI championship finalist Brahma Percussion Ensemble independent indoor drumline (2007-2010).
Mr. Moser previously served as Assistant Director of Bands and Director of Percussion at P.R. Wharton High School in Tampa, FL (2008-2016). At Wharton, his percussion students were honored to perform at the 2011 and 2013 FMEA All-State Clinic-Conference, the 2012 Florida Day of Percussion, several USF Marimba Festivals, and earned the 2014 and 2015 FMBC Championships Class 3A Best Percussion Award, as well as the 2016 FFCC Marching Scholastic A Silver Medal. Mr. Moser most recently served as the percussion director at Sebastian River High School, which performed at the FMEA All-State Convention, Western International Band Clinic, and is a Bands of America Orlando Regional Finalist.
Mr. Moser is co-author of “Masterworks for Mallets”, a collection of fifty classic pieces transcribed and arranged for keyboard percussion. He appears on the McCormick Percussion Group recordings “Culture Samples: Concerti with Flute and Percussion Orchestra” on Capstone Records, and “Music for Keyboard Percussions” on Ravello Records. Mr. Moser also served eight years as Principal Percussionist for the Florida Wind Band in Tampa.
Mr. Moser holds memberships with the Florida Bandmasters Association, Percussive Arts Society, and is an honorary member of the Kappa Kappa Psi and Pi Kappa Lambda music societies. He keeps an active schedule as an in-demand arranger, clinician, and adjudicator throughout Florida. His percussion students have earned positions with the Florida All-State Bands, national summer music festivals, gone on to perform with major drum corps and indoor drumlines, and have studied percussion at leading universities
